Fritsch Throws Support behind The Great Waterway Classic

-Ottawa Native to Act as Honorary Chair-

Richmond Hill, Ont. (June 11, 2013) –  The Great Waterway Classic, a PGA TOUR Canada event, is pleased to announce that Brad Fritsch, an Ottawa native and current PGA TOUR professional, will be named the 2013 Honorary Chairman of The Great Waterway Classic.  The second year PGA TOURCanada event will take place at Upper Canada Golf Course inMorrisburg,Ontario August 19-25 and will be operated by the Canadian Junior Golf Association.

“I am honored to be associated with The Great Waterway Classic,” said Fritsch.  “The launch of PGA TOURCanadais great for golf and players alike.  The time I spent on the Tour was instrumental to my development as a professional. I am confident the Tour and The Great Waterway Classic will showcase the talents of the players to the many golf enthusiasts across the country, and especially in The Great Waterway region.”

The 2012 Great Waterway Classic was played at Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course, whereNorth Vancouver,BCnative Eugene Wong won by a shot over Daniel Im ofVancouver. Wong’s victory capped a two-win season that saw him finish fourth on the PGA TOUR Canada Order of Merit.

“The Great Waterway Classic is delighted to have Brad throw his support behind the event that is certain to showcase a full field of talented professionals as they begin their journey to golf’s pinnacle, the PGA TOUR” said Brad Parkins, Tournament Director for The Great Waterway Classic.  “Brad used PGA TOURCanadaas a stepping stone to get to where he is today and for him to support this event shows his dedication to giving back to where he came from.”

Fritsch competed on PGA TOUR Canadafrom 2001 to 2006 and then again from 2010 to 2011.  Currently sitting 121st on the FedEx Cup Standings, he has had a good start to his first season on the PGA TOUR, making 12 of 16 cuts this season.
