CJGA Develops The Great Waterway Classic Junior Series

-Opportunity for CJGA members to Qualifying for PGA TOUR Canada event-

Richmond Hill, ON (May 7, 2013) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is pleased to announce the inaugural Great Waterway Junior Series. Spanning across Eastern Canada, this five-event series will act as a conduit to The Great Waterway Classic, a PGA TOUR Canada event. As host organization for The Great Waterway Classic, the CJGA is extending a possible four exemptions to CJGA members through the junior series.

“We are excited about the creation of The Great Waterway Junior Series as an opportunity for our members to have the chance to qualify for The Great Waterway Classic, a PGA TOUR Canada event” said Brad Parkins, Chief Operations Officer of the CJGA. “With an opportunity to compete in a professional event alongside the next wave of professional stars, this is a great development opportunity for our juniors.”

The Great Waterway Junior Series will span from Windsor to Moncton taking control of five events on the CJGA schedule. Juniors wishing to qualify for The Great Waterway Classic must participate in one of the qualifying sites and in the Boys 15-19 division. Both male and female juniors are eligible to qualify.

On the line will be up to four exemptions for the junior players, who will then get the chance to compete against a full field of professional golfers. The four-day PGA TOUR Canada event will be played at Upper Canada Golf Course in Morrisburg, Ont. August 19-25. The event is a four round event with a cut after the second day of the top 55 players and ties. The juniors will be competing against the professionals as they compete for a $150,000 purse.
